Introduction

The following article explains how to create, save and open projects in CVI Fusion as well giving an overview of CVI Fusion's "online" and "offline" working modes

Working Modes 


CVI Fusion has two working modes upon opening.

  • Online = Connected to a compatible MSSQL database. Projects can be opened from and saved into the database and/or files. Users can load reports based on the traceability stored in the connected database.
  • Offline = Not connected to a compatible MSSQL database. Projects can be opened from and saved in Fusion project files only. Users can not view reports.


The connectivity of  CVI Fusion can be determined by looking at the database connectivity icon. See below.

Creating a Project 


The process below is the same in all facility and service menus

  • Click on your desired facility menu
  • You will see a set of tabs where you can choose between "File" and "Database"

  • Choose the tab that applies to you:

- File = You will be asked to define a file location for your project. It will be available to users with access to this file location.

- Database = Your project will be saved into the connected database. It will be available to all other users with a valid connection to the database your are connected to.

  • Click 'New Project'

If you are working offline then the "New Project" button above these tab will only be available in the file tab.


File-Stored Project  

  • After clicking 'New Project' with the file tab selected you will see a menu like here:
  • Enter a name for your project. A description is also optional.
  • Click OK.


You will see that the project information for the open facility menu will now appear. Here you can change the title and description for your project as well as link other projects lower in the project hierarchy. 

Click on Project Information to close this menu and begin using your facility menu.


Database-Stored Project  

  • After clicking 'New Project' with the file tab selected you will see a menu like here:
  • Enter a name for your project. A description is also optional.
  • Click OK.


You will see that the project information for the open facility menu will now appear. Here you can change the title and description for your project as well as link other projects lower in the project hierarchy. 

Click on Project Information to close this menu and begin using your facility menu.


Saving a Project 


The process below is the same in all facility and service menus

  • Click on 'Save Project' to commit any unsaved changes to the file or database project you are working from.


Opening a Project 


The process below is the same in all facility and service menus

  • Click on your desired facility menu
  • You will see a set of tabs where you can choose between "File" and "Database"

  • Choose the tab that applies to you:

- File = You will be asked to choose an available fusion project file. 

- Database = You project will be choose an available fusion project stored in the database that are you connected to.

 

File-Stored Project  

  • Click 'Open Project'
  • After clicking 'New Project' with the file tab selected you will see an open dialog menu like seen here:

  • The default location for this folder to open is at "C:\Users\[UserName]\Documents\Desoutter\Fusion projects"
  • Choose an Fusion project file to open from the available folder to you


Database-Stored Project  

  • You will see all available projects in the main workspace for you to choose from provided you do not already have a project open.
